Today we left Pahaska en route to Cody. The ride to Cody took us along the Shoshone River, through a canyon, and along the Buffalo Bill Reservoir.
This is the most random thing we saw today, which needs to be spotlighted, because it was so funny. The Frisch’s did not own the ranch. I checked.

Katherine and Carol headed out a little before the rest of the group, and Katherine’s eagle-eye spotted a grizzly up on a hill across the street. We of course stopped to try to take his picture. However, we seem to have disturbed his morning meditation, so he turned away and walked into the trees.

Look at the second group of trees and you can see him staring down. In the second photo, you can see his profile.

The headwind didn’t get going for about 25/30 miles, so we were well into the ride before the winds became challenging, and it was beautiful.

Buffalo Bill Dam Entrances (We rode through the tunnels)

At this point, we’re a little weary of EVERYTHING being named after Buffalo Bill Cody. Alas, we’re still not in Cody, and it‘s only going to get worse, right? Because it’s Cody!
Some of us rode directly to the bike shop in Cody, where Carol learned that the part needed for her bike was on the FedEx truck for delivery that day. So, she left her bike and picked it up a few hours later - all fixed up! We got lunch, headed to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West (a complex of museums), and then met up again for dinner.

Highlights:
1 Beautiful geologic formations
2 Riding through the tunnel
3 Everyone’s bikes are in working order!
4 Cody is a fun little town with friendly people
5 There is a Sierra Trading Post store in Cody!!
Lowlights:
1 Headwinds. These only occur on days that end in ”Y”, I think.
2 Laura and Pete said goodbye to head back to Wyoming, OH. We hope they have safe travels back east!
3 Steve said goodbye to fly home from Cody
Thanks for coming along with us today.
Wyoming was the most difficult state for me to cross, relentless winds and relentless dry scenery. You have already encountered more diversity than I remember. It was in Wyoming that the head winds became a cross wind and a gust picked up my bike and put me down in the middle of the road...still riding. Good to hear that everyone's bike is in working condition. Enjoy and know you will be getting to the relentless corn fields soon! I did find the bear. Pretty exciting.
I love the updates! I love how strong you guys are! Stay safe!
What an amazing journey. I love reading along!!
