Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Everyone made their way west to Seattle from Ohio. MK and Katherine flew and had their bikes shipped to Seattle. Becky and Steve took the train:

Laura and Pete drove one way, and Don, Mary Jo, Kathleen and Carol drove another. Laura and Pete arrived well and on time in Seattle. However, the other vehicle decided on a separate vacation for a few weeks (much to the chagrin of the vehicle‘s passengers), so we needed to bring in a pinch hitter vehicle for the first leg of the adventure. Good thing it’s big enough for our bikes and our stuff!

Once everyone safely arrived in Seattle, some of us spent a day exploring a bit on our shakedown ride, ventured out to REI (aka the “mothership”) and some were able to meet up with family.

Ultimately, we all converged in the evening at the home of John and Kathy Saul, who prepared an incredible meal for us (al fresco and with pie!) to mark the start of our adventure.

Ok, enough talking about getting ready. Tomorrow we head east for North Bend, WA!

John and Kathy are wonderful hosts and I am sure you had a great feast. So jealous of your adventure, but following you closely. Looking forward to every post...and love the pictures.
